Serendipity, it seems, is not a killer feature

I never quite understood the push for online people discovery apps.  Most people cannot even handle the relationships they currently have, let alone forging new ones on the fly.  I wrote before the subject before stating that serendipity is creepy.  Another things is that many of these apps felt very forced and lacked any sense of community or context that would make the apps less creepy.  I suspect that we have not see the last of these apps, but the first generation of serendipity apps have at least come to an end.
