So we braved the streets of Chinatown in Manhattan to find the best dumplings NYC has to offer.  We had a clear winner with Prosperity Dumpling but also a surprising newcomer in C&L Dumpling.  Then we did a tour focused on my all time favorite dumpling from Shanghai, Xiao Long Bao, or better known here as soup dumplings.  It was a neck and neck battle between the humble Shanghai Gourmet and the classy Shanghai Asian Minor.  While we found some real gems in their own right, it is now time to spread our wings in search for the best of the best!

I got my fair share of abuse by the cackling gallery of foodie snobs who said unequivocally the best dumplings in the Tri-State Region are in Flushing.  Therefore the next stop for the #NYCDumpling crew is Flushing, Queens so that we can put these vendors of deliciously awesome food bundles to the test!

As we probably only have one shot at this (Manhattanites fear the boroughs as we all know), we are going to do both Xiao Long Bao and regular dumplings (fried and steamed and, if forced, vegetarian).  This is going be a bit of an epic journey as we going to do our very best to fit in 10 places in the space of three hours and cover a ton of ground.  But whether snow, rain or shine, we will make this tour awesome and get to the crux of the matter…WHERE ARE THE BEST DUMPLINGS IN ALL OF NYC!?!

We are going out this Sunday, April 17th at 12 PM starting out at the pinnacle of Xiao Long Baoness , Nan Xiang Dumpling House on Prince Street in Flushing and then work our way around.  Join us here and checkout the full itinerary for our afternoon adventure.  Come whenever you can with whoever you want to bring as all are welcome!  If cannot find us, follow the tweets by the hashtag #NYCDumpling to get the lowdown on our location. 好吃!!!

PS – To satiate your craving for dumplings (or maybe it just makes you more hungry), here is an awesome New York Time article about the history of Chinatowns in NYC from 2006.
